About Us
The Cooperative system has been a part of the Purdue University community for over 75 years. Glenwood Cooperative was founded in 1939 by Glenora McFadden to provide economic housing for women and grow sisterhood, responsibility, academic excellence and service. Glenwood was located at 421 University Street until 1969 when it was moved to its current location at 503 North University Street.
Glenwood is one of the largest women cooperative houses with a capacity of 35 members. Women of Glenwood hold tightly to the values and traditions passed down by our founder. Members live together and are responsible for maintaining the house, including weekly meal preparation and cleaning duties. The cost of living is significantly reduced compared to other social housing organizations. Glenwood Women are also able to take part in activities sponsored by the house such as intramural sports, social functions, Homecoming, Dad's Day, Mom's Day, Purdue Day of Giving, and philanthropic events.
